Hello everyone,
The topic winner for October was Performance Monitoring and=20
Troubleshooting. I had previously sent out an email saying that we=20
would have to postpone the topic one month because I misunderstood what=20=
Jim was telling me. Turns out Jim found Tom Zingale to talk about two=20=
things you can use to monitor network performance, Netflow and IP=20
Service Level Agreements (formerly known as SAA). I hope everyone can=20=
make it. Please see below for a more details.
The meeting will be held at the Cisco Offices in Lake Oswego at our=20
normal first Wednesday of the month (6th), at the normal 5:30pm time. =20=
Please email me if you need an exact address.

We will=A0have Tom Zingale,=A0Cisco Systems Product Manager, present on=20=

Netflow
Cisco IOS=AE Software includes a comprehensive=A0is an IOS feature used =
for=20
Network Monitoring, Application Monitoring and Profiling, User=20
Monitoring and Profiling, Network planning, Security Analysis,=20
accounting and billing. By analyzing NetFlow data, a network engineer=20
can identify the cause of congestion; determine the class of service=20
(CoS) for each user and application; and identify the source and=20
destination network for your traffic. NetFlow allows extremely granular=20=
and accurate traffic measurements and high-level aggregated traffic=20
collection.=A0
Cisco IOS=AE IP Service Level Agreements is a capability embedded within=20=
nearly all devices that run Cisco IOS Software, which allows Cisco=20
customers to understand IP service levels for IP services, increase=20
productivity, lower operational costs, and reduce the frequency of=20
network outages. =A0Service Providers will measure and provide SLAs,=20
Enterprises will verify service levels and outsourced SLAs, and=20
understand network performance with Cisco IOS IP SLA. =A0It can perform=20=
network assessments, verify Quality of Service (QoS) and ease=20
deployment of new services, and assist administrators with network=20
troubleshooting. =A0Cisco IOS IP SLA uses unique service level assurance=20=
metrics and methodology to provide highly accurate, precise service=20
level assurance measurements.=
