Portland Linux/Unix Group Advanced Topics Meeting Announcement

Who: Moderator Michael Dexter, PLUG Volunteer
What: Enduring Communities Roundtable
Where: Free Geek, 1731 SE 10th Avenue, Portland
When: Tuesday, April 19th 2016, at 7PM
Why: Live Long and PLUGsper
Stream: http://pdxlinux.org/live

Why do some user groups endure for decades while others do not? What
organizational structures and personalities are needed to maintain
interest, attendance and participation?

Share your experiences on why the groups you have been involved with
have or have not survived. Was it a Y2K preparedness group that served
its purpose? Did group leadership not successfully transfer between
generations? Beyond organizing the last 100 or so PLUG speakers, Michael
has been involved in student and neighborhood government, plus the
Oregon Latvian Society for nearly 30 years. During this time he has seen
the brightest and darkest moments of volunteer organizations.
