Software Test Engineer

This is a three month contract with the possibility of an extension. The 
selected candidate will have experience in UNIX / Linux, security issues, 
C/C++. Cryptography and authentication experience a plus.

The engineer will be evaluating security vulnerabilities in a distribution 
of Linux. Vulnerability cases will be tested and analysed against various 
Linux distributions. The objective is to characterize the focus of the 
exploit, determine it's effectiveness against various distributions and 
the reasons for its effectiveness. The engineer must be able to determine 
if simple configuration differences account for a failure of any 
particular exploit test case. Once a true vulnerability is found, the 
engineer will document the test case for further action by engineering.

I should point out that the subject of this message is misleading. 
'PL/SQL' isn't Perl/SQL--it's Procedural Language for SQL--a proprietary
Oracle language for stored procedures.

We have a short-term need (1-3 months) for a software engineer to work 
on a special project involving Java and smartcards. In this project, we 
need a web server application and a web browser client to work with a 
Java smartcard for PKI authentication. The server application is under 
development. The web clients are the common Microsoft IE and 
Netscape/Mozilla clients.


    Responsibilities:

You would be responsible for developing an applet that downloads from 
the server into the web browser, and from there interacts with a 
smartcard reader and the smartcard itself to authenticate the user back 
to the server.

    * Java programming skills

    * Experience working with smartcards

Folks:

	Just when I took it for granted that I wouldn't be doing any 
of this computer stuff, anymore, I have a fairly complex project that 
dropped into my lap. The project will require a programmer - probably 
PERL, or possibly C/C++ - and database work.


OS Requirements & Limits:
------------
	The programming and database code and applications will need 
to live comfortably on a Red Hat 7.x Linux server. Probably a 
separate server for the database, itself, actually. Open Source 
knowledge and preference is expected.
	The server(s) are VERY restrictive, regarding access. There 
will be NO Shell access or FTP, only SCP (secure copy). PERL is 
installed, as is MySQL and PostgreSQL.


Site Focus:
----------
	The focus of the site is an "e-bay-like" auction site. 
Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA)prevent me for revealing anything more 
detailed that this. Thus, the programming will be directed towards 
the functionality on such a site.

	There is a small budget for the database and programming 
work, to demonstrate functionality and a "POC" (Proof-Of-Concept). 
The graphics and general Web Development are covered, as is the 
hosting.

	I'm taking bids and interest on the programming and database 
work. Interested persons can receive a list of general-to-specific 
functionality for this POC, via E-mail. I won't bother the entire 
list with these details (again, it's that nasty NDA aspect).
