UNIX/Linux Systems Administrator

Position Overview 
The UNIX/Linux Systems Administrator works within a small multi-discipline (system,
network, and security) team which is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the
company's production systems. In addition to break/fix work, each member of the team
has projects specific to their skill set which they are responsible for. Occasional
off-hours and weekend work is required as load demands, as well as on-call rotation
(1 wk/month). 

Required Skills
Good knowledge of UNIX computer system administration, TCP/IP networking, the
high-level structure and operation of the Internet, data center operations, and
production computing environments. Able to learn new technologies and adapt learning
into implementation goals. Able to integrate technical expertise with business needs.
Possess strong analytical problem solving skills. 

Interpersonal Skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent organizational
skills. Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines and varying
degrees of technical experience. Ability to work independently with a minimum of
supervision.

Experience
Three years minimum professional experience working as a systems administrator on
Solaris and Linux servers in a 20+ node multi functional environment.

Practical Experience With

*	Solaris 
*	Suse (SLES9) 
*	Java servlet containers and application servers 
*	Network installation utilities (jumpstart/autoyast) 
*	NAS appliances and nfs clients 
*	Storage area networks 
*	Common admin languages (sh/bash/perl) 
*	Package management (rpm/sys V pkg) 
*	Host based packet filters 
*	Syslog/Syslog-ng 
*	Veritas Netbackup 
*	NDMP Backups 

Additional Desired Experience

*	Source control with cvs 
*	Server Load Balancers (f5/Alteon/Etc) 
*	Practical cfengine experience 
*	Iplanet (aka Sun One aka JES) suite of servers (ldap/http/servlet) 
*	Monitoring and or measuring tools such us rrdtool and nagios 
*	EMC Clariion or Celerra storage devices
