UNIX System Admin


Tasks/Job Function 


*         Build and deploy Sun servers running Solaris OS per company build standards

*         Provide system administration support for HP Alpha servers running Tru64 OS

o       Manage system security and access methods

o       Manage system updates

o       Restore systems from critical failures, identify root causes and remediate
root causes of outages

o       Manage system performance, trouble-shoot and resolve performance issues

*         Support application installation and development activities

*         Assist with installation and configuration of HP management and monitoring
tools.

*         Assist with installation and configuration of TDI ConsoleWorks software.

*         Assist DBAs, Networking, and Applications support staff in resolving
complex problems and issues with databases and applications

*         Install and configure Tripwire software.  Integrate Tripwire with
ConsoleWorks and HP OVO

*         Configure and support "sendmail" as needed to support communications needs


Required Skills/Experience


*         Minimum 5 years experience supporting Tru64 UNIX servers

*         Minimum 3 years experience supporting Sun Solaris servers

*         Experience as a Windows System Administrator a plus

*         Experience supporting Tru64 clustering

*         Experience deploying Sun Solaris servers using Jumpstart

*         Minimum 3 years supporting UNIX servers running Oracle databases

*         Experience with software package implementations including custom
development, system integration and data conversion is required.

*         Experience supporting real-time, 24x7 systems

*         Excellent analytical, planning, communication, problem resolution and
interpersonal skills are required.

*         Experience with Energy Management Systems or SCADA systems a plus

*         Experience with ABB Ranger software a big plus

*         Experience with administrative language (Tk, Perl, a shell), porting C
programs from one platform to another, and writing small C programs. 

*         Experience with networking/distributed computing environment concepts;
understands client/server programming and the design for network file system layouts.
