Unix Engineer II -

 

JOB DUTIES:

Install and maintain operating system, software tools and applications
as needed to maintain operational efficiency and system uptime.

Develop and maintain test environment to allow the testing and
evaluating of new operating system versions, patches and support tools.

Provide technical support for applications development systems in a
multi-host environment consisting of AIX, DYNIX, HP-UX, SUNOS and Linux.

 

Understand technical documentation, software specifications and hardware
principles of operation and system software operations.

Develop a system monitoring strategy that ensures that systems meet
performance and capacity criteria set by management.

Recommend hardware and software upgrades as necessary to maintain
systems at a high level of availability.

Other projects and tasks as assigned by the manager.

Share on-call responsibility with other system administrator.

Multi-tasking - ability to handle multiple projects and priorities
simultaneously

sound conclusions and resolution.

 

MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS::

Lifting - ability to lift up to 25 lbs. 

Stress - ability to maintain stability of personality and performance
while under pressure, deadline and stress

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Requires AA Technical degree or BS in Computer Science or equivalent
experience

Five years experience in a UNIX environment required

Intermediate level Excel skills
