Unix Engineer

 

We have a great Contract to Hire position available in Wilsonville, OR.
We are looking for a Unix engineer with a solid understanding of Unix
operating systems, AIX 4.3.3 or higher required, Dynix/PTX, Solaris and
Linux desired. Must have the ability to administer, maintain,
troubleshoot, patch, and recover these operating systems.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

* Solid understanding of various Unix OS's (see above)

* Solid understanding of network components, routing, name resolution
and network troubleshooting.

* Strong scripting skills in KSH required, PERL is desired.

* Experience managing RAID arrays required.

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as writing
skills related to documentationm procedures, and presentations.

* Storage Area Network experience is strongly desired (especially IBM
enterprise-class products (Shark)).

* Solid performance tuning skills for AIX desired.

* Experience w/IBM hardware platforms for AIX required, Dynix is
desired.

* Experience with IBM Regatta class server is highly desired.

* Experience w/event management software desired - especially Tivoli
Event Management.

* Experience w/enterprise backup and recovery solutions is strongly
desired.

* Experience w/Oracle a plus.

 

Qualifications:

Strong working knowledge of UNIX systems, patching, OS upgrades, backup
and recovery,

Excellent technical problem-solving skills combined w/customer service
attitude.

Provide solutions to a wide variety of difficult problems of diverse
scope.

Provide own goal setting and work independently w/general direction.

Meet w/customers/clients and represent the organization in
cross-functional environments.

Meet w/vendors concerning new storage or computing technology.

Proven leadership abilities.
