Position Description

Network Engineer 

Summary:  
The Network Engineer assists in the development, engineering,
implementation, and maintenance of the company's network communications. The
Network Engineer continually ensures the operation of the WAN/LAN
infrastructure.  The Network Engineer also assists with all aspects of
network engineering, implementation, planning, testing, security,
performance management, monitoring, and ongoing support.


Primary Responsibilities:
Assist in the engineering, implementation and maintenance of our client's
Production, Test, DR and Corporate network platforms
Assist with the maintenance of the WAN/LAN, Voice and Network Security
supporting all our client's datacenters and corporate offices
Make recommendations for policy and procedural changes to accommodate new
technology and requirements
Perform technical writing in the development and production of
network/systems
Create and maintain documentation, procedural, and instructional manuals
Attend and participate in Technical Operations group meetings and meetings
with customers, to support existing environments as well as remaining
informed of new trends and innovations in the field of information
technology
Maintain excellent communication with the department manager on all tasks
and projects
Work occasional scheduled change windows at night and on weekends
Provide emergency on-call support on a rotating schedule
Other duties as assigned by manager

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Minimum of 5 years of IT experience (Network, Systems, or Information
security)
In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals
Minimum of 3 years of network engineering and network security experience
required.
Experience with routers and switches (Cisco, Juniper, Foundry etc) required.
Experience with network firewalls (Cisco, Juniper or Checkpoint) required
Experience with DNS, and DHCP
Must have good troubleshooting skills (net. device and systems level)
Thorough understanding of network security aspects, common problems and
solutions (ACL, firewall filtering, and VPN)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Unfaltering attention to detail and process
Ability to prioritize workloads and deliver timely resolutions

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
BS in Computer Science, Telecom, Information Systems or related fields
Experience with dynamic routing protocols, BGP, OSPF etc.
Experience with HSRP, VRRP, and STP
Experience with SSL Load balancers (F5, Cisco, or Foundry)
5 years of experience with Operating Systems- Linux, UNIX, and Windows etc.
Experience with Server and network virtualization (VMWare, Xen etc).
Experience with Network Management Systems or tools (Cacti, MRTG, Nagios,
Ciscoworks, HP Openview etc)
Prefer minimum of 5 years of networking experience
Network or Systems Certifications such as: CCNA, CCNP, CCSP, RHCE
