Dang it, I wanted to give PLUG-Jobs the jump on this one, but I didn't get
details until the CraigsList ad went up.

It's contract, right by Powell's Techbooks and much public transportation,
the people are nice, and you can telecommute. (Wish *I* could!)

We're an interactive media department inside an larger advertising agency.
We are looking for a stalwart, knowledgeable, self-directed, experienced
and likable Java/JSP programmer. Your tasks will largely center around
helping us build e-commerce sites using open source and in-house platforms.
We don't micromanage and we are always looking for better ways to do
things. Your input will be valued as if you were an employee – in return,
we will expect you to be extremely communicative and conscientious and we
will expect your solutions to be prompt, complete, appropriate, and tested.

The technologies we are currently working with include:
* JSP/J2EE/Servlets/Struts
* PHP, Python
* Postgres/MySQL
* Tomcat, JBoss, Apache
* HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery
* SSH, Subversion, Linux
* Redmine and MediaWiki

In addition to your main tasks, we'll likely ask you to:
* Manage PHP scripts
* Write up bash scripts
* Testing your and others' work
* Administer Linux systems when necessary

Since we are part of a media company, we have hard deadlines that are
immovable. Given that, you will often have to provide quick and rational
responses to sudden changes or surprises. We are also inherently and
legally very security conscious and we expect you to be as well; our
sysadmin and your fellow programmers will hound you otherwise. PCI
compliance knowledge/experience would be great; you will have to sign PCI
DSS forms before working with us.

We are looking for someone who will work with us for a year or more. Since
our core development plan is a long-term project, learning our business
model will allow you to make the best decisions. At times we may need you
to be in meetings and be able to communicate with people who might not be
that technologically knowledgeable.

If you think that this job is a good fit for you, send us your resume!
