Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) a nationally and internationally recognized research and development lab based in Washington State is looking for a Linux Kernel Programmer with real-time HPC experience.

PNNL is positioned to develop a platform for real-time computing in a high-performance environment in support of the future power grid. We will develop the underlying infrastructure necessary to support real-time HPC by porting an existing real-time operating system to a high-performance computing platform and create the required tools and libraries to enable the development of real-time high-performance power grid analysis applications. These will include runtime libraries and real-time versions of mathematical libraries to be used in power grid analysis. Specifically, with respect to key power grid analysis algorithms (such as state estimation and contingency analysis), we identify specific candidates for such an implementation, namely sparse matrix vector multiplication, dot product computation, and vector normalization.

This is an exciting, challenging position that will suit a highly motivated flexible individual. This is a great opportunity to work with a one-billion dollar government institution that is making a difference in advancing science and helping solve some of the world's toughest challenges in energy, environment and national security.
