This is an excellent 3+ month with potential of contract to hire.  Company is growing and transitioning from a small organization to a mid sized company.  Looking for a Seasoned AIX professional.  Great company in Portland, OR

Overview

This position requires a seasoned professional with at least 10 years of experience in the IT industry. Candidates must have a very strong background in AIX and related AIX technologies including IBM Websphere and possess detailed working knowledge of EDI file processing.  
Position will primarily be supporting and upgrading a Web Based application running on AIX and DB2 with Websphere middleware.


Responsibilities

·         


Support testing effort for an upgrade to a Web Based Application with EDI interfaces;  
writing test cases, doing testing, debugging problems in environment


·         


Interaction with 3rd Party Vendor providing Web Based Application; responsible for logging support tickets


Technical Skills (Required)

·         


5+ years of AIX System Administration experience


·         


Expert Knowledge in IBM P series hardware and software AIX,(6.x)


·         


Expert Knowledge in Websphere 6.0/7.0 - MQ, Data Interchange (WDI) & Partner Gateway (WPG)


·         


Experience supporting java based web application


·         


WebSphere 7.0 certification a plus


·         


Expert Knowledge in EDI File Processing


·         


Scripting skills


·         


Job Scheduling (cron, etc.)


Working knowledge (Nice to Have): 

·         


Server virtualization


·         


SAN Integration experience


·         


LAN/WAN technologies and network protocols (e.g. routers, switches, TCP/IP) 


·         


Database technologies, preferably DB2


·         


Experience with Linux operating systems is a plus 


General skills (Required): 

·         


Problem determination/Root Cause analysis skills


·         


Excellent conceptual and analytical skills 


·         


Excellent verbal and written communication skills 


·         


Able to produce detailed technical documentation and server architecture diagrams 


·         


Adherence to corporate standards/problem and change management policies 


·         


A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required
