*OVERVIEW *
This position is located in the Business Systems Organization within the IT
department. The role of the System Administrator is to provide operating
system support in order to provide sustainable, stable and secure
enterprise level servers including backup recovery, performance tuning,
upgrades/patches, maintenance, troubleshooting, permissions and file
sharing.

*REQUIRED *
5-9 years Experience - Computer Technology or related field.
Undergraduate College Degree Computer Technology or related field.
Installation and support of Solaris operating systems.
Maintenance and support of SUN server systems.
Linux operating system such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux5 or higher running
on HP x86 hardware.
Interconnectivity with Windows (2003/2008/2008 R2/xp/7) for file, mail and
print sharing.
High Availability RAID and SAN storage solutions such as HP EVA, and
NetApp.
Networking protocols such as DNS/BIND, NFS, NIS, and LDS (in an Active
Directory permission structure).
Administration tools such as LSAT (Linux Security Audit Tool) for security
and hardening in an integrated network.
Automating administrative tasks and procedures using KSH, CSH or PERL
scripts.
Creation of virtual hosts and clients using products such as VMware v5.
Provide on-call and backup support for existing systems and functions.
Location for on-call and backup support may be at company facilities or
off-site.
Required to carry a company supplied cell phone/pager and work non-core
hours when requested.
Carry out assigned tasks with a professional demeanor reflected in
excellent written and oral communication skills, listening skills,
patience, analytical reasoning and problem solving abilities.
Ability to meet timelines, milestones, deliverables and provide timely
(weekly) status updates.
Communicate technical information verbally and in writing to technical and
non-technical users.
Provide a sustainable IT infrastructure by supplying cross training and
functional documentation.
Understand and follow established processes and procedures including Change
Management, Work Tracking and Time Management.

*RESPONSIBILITIES *
Provide on-call and backup support for existing systems and functions.
Location for on-call and backup support may be at company facilities or
off-site. Required to carry a company supplied cell phone/pager and work
non-core hours when requested.
Support cluster/disaster recovery and ensure continuous availability of
business-critical applications.
Restore data files and perform bare metal system volume recoveries.
Keep a Red Hat Linux server farm at the latest security patches and perform
standard administrative tasks such as NIS username management and
troubleshooting with crash dumps (LKCD).
Maintain connectivity with Windows file and print servers and configure
SMTP to exchange mail with an Exchange system.
Configure UNIX files systems on a large enterprise SAN to serve Oracle
database engines.
Install and configure computer and username naming services interacting
with the Windows Active Directory environment.
Ensure that file, Xterm, Xwindows interactions are secured through the use
of various secure shell products such as SSH/SCP.
Automate status monitoring/alarming.
Determine virtual host/client requirements, create the bundle, install and
monitor availability.
Have, and be able to demonstrate, a basic understanding of PKI and how it
integrates within a distributed computing environment.
Possess a thorough understanding of the various initialization processes of
the major, respective NIX platforms.
Understand, and be able to troubleshoot the various service and process
management faculties of the major NIX platforms.
Provide on-call and backup support for existing systems and functions.
