Hi everyone,

Here at Monsoon Commerce we are seeking a talented and passionate Release Engineer to develop and maintain our toolkit and processes for software and service builds and deploys, to promote best practices in engineering teams, and to facilitate the promotion of code from desktop to production systems in an efficient and reliable manner.

Ideal candidates will have deep experience working with the software as a service model and virtual hosts in a cloud architecture, as well as traditional website architectures and desktop applications.  This role is for a skilled engineer who is an expert of their domain and who can also quickly adapt to challenges outside their scope of experience.

Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain build and deploy tools, scripts, and processes for web services and hosted applications
- Work closely with development teams to facilitate test automation as part of the build process
- Lead the release project, coordinating work and schedules across multiple teams
- Own the build and deploy workflows, participating in technology and process decisions
- Administrate the build and deploy infrastructure, including source code control and continuous integration systems
- Manage release branches
- Pair with developers and QA engineers to optimize their development and test environments
- Promote best practices in infrastructure maintenance and deploy methodologies

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent related experience
- Minimum 3+ years experience as a software/release engineer
- Expert Unix/Linux experience (Ubuntu, CentOS, etc)
- Expert scripting experience (bash, python, perl, etc)
- Experience building applications and services in Java and Ruby (including GEM version control and updating)
- Familiar with SQL and NoSQL databases (Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, SQL Server)
- Comfortable with various build and continuous integration tools (Maven, Ant, Python, Teamcity)
- Comfortable with large scale distributed systems, preferably in a cloud architecture
- Familiar with Mercurial and code branching strategies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
