[PLUG-JOBS] (JOB) Why more contract / temporary positions?

Derek,
   Depends on what you mean.  I don't think Portland is short on Linux
focused jobs, but a lot of the folks who advertise on the LUG list are
looking for contract or contract to hire type jobs.  I've certainly found
work within my area of speciality within Linux here, and I think the
embedded space (I work on Network processors) is one of the smaller groups
of Linux employers in the city.  If your focus is more general and WWW
WWW2.0 related there should be plenty of opportunities.  They just may not
be described as Linux work on the surface.  There is also the telecommute
option.  I and another coworker both live in or near Portland but
telecommute for a company back in the Bay area.
