The Technology Infrastructure (TI) department is responsible for the
computing and network infrastructure used by faculty, staff, and students
campus-wide. Our mission is to champion customer satisfaction by providing
fast, reliable, and secure IT infrastructure and services.

In this position, you will be part of a DevOps team with a focus on
continuous integration of enterprise Linux solutions both in our local data
center and in the cloud. You will prototype and pilot new locally hosted
and cloud systems which can include specifying hardware, specifying and
installing operating systems, integrating commercial and public software
packages, and significant scripting and automation using Puppet, Python,
and shell scripts. Your work will offer many opportunities for close
collaboration with other Linux team members, with other teams throughout
the Office of Information Technology, and with individuals and teams across
the university. As you define new solutions, you will provide training to
teams across the university.

Primary job duties will include

- Provide systems administration for multiple locally hosted and cloud
Linux-based systems including ERP, identity management, directory services,
email, web, storage, and others

- Develop and implement new Linux-based systems

- Isolate, research, and resolve problems for critical Linux-based systems

- Document new systems, new operational methods, and changes to existing
systems and methods

- Ensure minimal downtime and provide systems support in times of emergency
by participating in a paid, on-call rotation

- Assist the Associate Director of TI and the Linux Platform Team manager
with regular technical operations and special projects

Skills and Requirements

- Possess intellectual curiosity and a drive for excellence

- Able to work in a collaborative, technical, team-driven environment

- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate
effectively with technical and non-technical staff

- Project management skills and good personal time-management habits

- Able to work in a fast-paced, production environment

- Willing and able to provide off-hours support

- Experience with enterprise Linux server administration

- Experience working with Open Source software systems

- Scripting/coding skills in one or more of: Python, Ruby, Java, Perl, or
PHP

- Shell scripting skills

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or related field) and 2 years IT
experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job

- Able to work with sensitive/confidential information and to handle such
information as required by Federal, State, and PSU/OIT/TI
regulations/policies

The starting annual salary rate for this position will be between $55,000
and $65,000/year with an excellent benefits package including 95%
premium-paid healthcare for employees and family members; significantly
reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse, or dependent at any of the
seven Oregon public universities (details and restrictions apply); and a
generous vacation and retirement package. PSU contributes approximately 13%
of your compensation to retirement with no requirement for a matching
contribution from employees. Wellness offerings include an extensive and
