In logic, there are two ways to construct truth; by assertion (as in a
postulate or axiom) and by proof (as in a theorem or lemma). The
assertion of truth is part of the construction of a logical system. The
proof of a theorem comes from applying the logical operators of your
system (which may or may not concur with traditional logical operations)
to your axia (in combination or singly) and showing equivalence.
I wouldn't agree that two mutually exclusive statements cannot both be
proven true. However, if, in a given logical system, two contradictory
statements are proven to be simultaneously true, then two or more of the
axia are contradictory.
(Now, watch somebody take the first sentence of that last paragraph out of
context and try to claim that I believe nature can be contradictory.)
