Well, I implicitly identified myself as a "random internet jackass",
at least as regards legal advice, so you can't say I am not being even
handed.

And, while it might sound insulting, it really isn't.  It's just good
advice.  Missing, but implicit, is the concluding sentence: "So please
don't be a moron."

And finally, you might want to pencil it out for yourself, but by my
guess if you are _really_ worried about the legal liability of
carpooling, I'd think you'd be far better off to buy more insurance
than to pay for all the gas you would otherwise save by carpooling.
Don't forget to consider that when you carpool you are driving less
too (because your carpoolers assume the responsibility when they
drive), and thus you have _less_ exposure to legal risk.  In short, it
seems like a specious basis for rejecting carpooling.  But don't take
my word for it (see above).

As for beautiful weekends, mine started on Friday.
