And I'm not disagreeing. I'm just saying that so many people are so
eager to announce they have no clue by opening their mouth.

Yes. Cynicism is almost as good as experience from what I've seen in
the workplace. At least lately, I've had the good fortune of not
having to work with morons, and with people moving back to California,
they're fewer and far between. Hopefully I don't jinx it by saying
it, but things seem to be getting better, though slowly.

I'm not closing myself off. Back in October, I just recently wrapped
up a 20-month-long assignment stuck on the night shift someplace where
a statistically disproportionate number of people encountered would be
in the middle of or had just recently done something so far out there
that even the Pope would have wondered why some higher force hadn't
squished them like a bug years ago for it. And it wasn't usually the
same people doing the stupid stuff...just a constant flow of fresh
idiots, not enough sleep and lots of coffee. I've since been
reassigned to another site at my request, and again to day shift and a
different site again by my request (conflict of interest: I can't
guard some companies facilities with a clear conscious).

I'm not normally that far out, I'm venting slowly over time when I'm
not at work. Though stupid people and Californians still have no
business being in Oregon. 8:o)
