That's one out of every forty, though.  Surely you know forty people?
As I read the chart, it's 25/1000 *per year* isn't it?

I'll bet you know a lot more than that... I certainly do.

So one out of every forty people is the victim of a violent crime per
year and that's an insignificant number?

Now, if I can protect myself from being the one of those forty, I think
I'm going to do so.  I'd rather not just survive... I'd rather not be a
victim in the first place.  I don't think that's such a strange request
to make.  :-)
