   Was. Not is. Look at any printed (that is, typeset) publication.

   Of course, processed word documents too often have the intellectual
nutritional content equivalent to processed cheese; particularly the type
sold in plastic containers that's squeezed out.

   It is. If you're interested, read a book on typography sometime. It's
quite fascinating. For example, did you know that the "Times Roman" typeface
was designed specifically for the pages of the London Times newspaper? It
was a different size page (broadsheet rather than tabloid) so the font was
designed to look better on that size page and columns.
