I'm not following.  Are you saying when you select "Organize Bookmarks"
from the "Bookmarks" drop-down menu item, which will open the Bookmarks
Manager, then alphabetize the bookmarks from within the Manager, you go
back to the Bookmarks drop-down menu and your bookmarks are not
alphabetized?

It works as expected here.  I can even right-click and "Sort by Name"
from the Bookmarks Sidebar, and the new sort will be picked up in both
the Bookmarks drop-down menu and the Bookmarks Manager.  What version of
Firefox are you using?  I have "Iceweasel 2.0.0.1," which I believe is
the same as Firefox 2.0.0.1.
