Sounds interesting. I'll look into it.

Not at this time. I'll be using it with my XP laptop. The members' RMLS
web site (our real estate multiple listing service) still relies on IE.
They tell us that sometime next year they will unveil the new site,
which will run on other browsers. So, for now, I need to use Winders.
Next year, I'll try using the site with Firefox on Linux, and see what
it will take to migrate. I already use OO on the laptop. I do run into
the occasional MS Office generated tiff image of a document. I have MS
Publisher, which comes with a tool to open and read those tiffs. I tried
looking at them with the GIMP, but they've done some screwy stuff so
that the image looks like a negative when viewed with the GIMP. I
haven't played with it further.

The printer/scanner is primarily just to serve as a copy machine I can
keep in the car. ORS696, Oregon's real estate law, requires that each
party signing a document receive a copy at the time of the signing. Most
of the forms are NCR, but once we start trading faxes and pdf's, NCR is
no longer available. Most of us take along two copies, and have the
clients sign both. It's never been tested to determine if duplicates
count as copies. Taking a copy machine would mean the client would not
have to sign twice, and would get an actual copy of their signature,
instead of a duplicate.
