Reuters.com has several stories today that IBM has (or will be) releasing
its Lotus Symphony office suite at no charge as an alternative to
Microsoft's Office. Two questions come to mind:

   1) Wasn't there a Lotus Symphony integrated application in the mid-1980s
on DOS, along with Aston-Tate's Frameworks? Wonder if the new release is
version 2.0 of that.

   2) The couple of news report blurbs that I saw (including the news sidebar
on groklaw.net) mentioned that OO.o is also free of charge and has been
available for winduhs users for several years now. Wonder why IBM didn't
back OO.o instead of putting out Symphony?
