[PLUG-TALK] COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC - sister looking for a phone job

THIS IS COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC - hit "n" now unless you want to help
someone find a job.

My sister Lori does telephone work, when jobs are available. She has
mild cerebral palsy, and has mobility and vision issues; she can't
do a lot of walking, she needs a big screen monitor, and she doesn't
read quickly. However, she is normally intelligent, diligent, always
shows up on time, and is quite capable of memorizing scripts and
such if given the opportunity. When she was working credit card
sales for a bank (call in stuff, no phone spam) she did not handle
the calls very fast, but she made the most sales and ranked high in
profits for her department because she connects well with customers.

Unfortunately, we live in an age where phone jobs are designed
for interchangable slackers, and productivity is measured in calls
per hour, not business generated or customers satisfied. Union
rules often supercede ADA requirements, so big screen monitors and
home time memorizing scripts are often forbidden during work or in
interviews. "Everybody's gotta be treated the same". Feh.

The employment services keep sending her to the big shops where she
struggles to keep a poorly matched job. Lori would do a lot better
in a small company that needs someone who can work without a script,
who can memorize customer likes and dislikes, and in general provide
personal service. She could be a great asset to the right employer,
and perhaps one of you might know someone who needs her kinds of
skills and her passion for doing an excellent job. She and I can
provide a large screen monitor, training books, special computer
setup, whatever.

Lori will have her website designed soon, but for now you can contact
her through me. Sorry for using the plug-talk list for this, but all
of us together know a lot of people, and perhaps one of those people
is her next employer.

Keith
