You can mask your IP address by using a proxy.  Hoax Busters (and
everyone else) would then see the proxy's address and not yours.

Firefox is reporting your OS and browser details, and there are a few
ways of preventing that.  The downside is that some web page
developers actually look for that information to customize the page to
suit your browser and, as necessary, OS.  Masking those might cause
more problems than it solves.

Besides, who wouldn't be proud to show off their Linuxesque?
