the main advantage for me is that you can answer calls without getting the
phone out. If the bluetooth headset is in range, and your phone rings, you
can just press the answer button on the headset.

the biggest disadvantage I have found is that the mic is much farther from
my mouth on most bluetooth headsets, relative to where the phone's mic is
when I'm using it. This means I have to talk a lot louder for people to hear
me.

The secondary disadvantage is that some research may be required to find a
headset compatible with your phone. I bought a Bluetrex brand headset due to
the very good reviews about sound quality, but it doesn't work with either
of my phones. I have both an iphone and a very old nokia 6820. I really
expected it to work with the nokia, but have not been able to accomplish
this as yet.
