We have taken another step towards the 'Xerox democracy' that the
soviet system feared so much.
No longer is the issue "freedom of the press", as anybody with money
to buy web access can now issue endless blogs, email screeds,
websites, etc.... The press is now part of the plebiscite, not the
elite who could afford presses.
It's not quite a Utopia, in the sense that "everything is wonderful",
but it is an information paradise, in that HR directors 20 years from
now (or historians 200 years from now) can see somebody flaming
somebody, can see somebody expressing strong opinions, can see depth
and focus of a given idea or argument.
WRT: MRC: I'm grateful he has brought different thinkers together.
This is some of the best discussion I've read in years.
I'd be against banning, if for no other reason that arguing with the
Al-Shatan (the adversary), tends to allow people to drop their
anonymity, expose their knowledge, their credentials, and lets me
gain a closer understanding about who I share the list with.
