   A-ha! It's a linux plated with a hard, shiny surface. Now that makes perfect
sense to me.

   BTW, chrome plating uses rather toxic chemicals, so material scientists
have been experimenting and discovered that nickle alloyed with tungston
produces a superior surface than does chrome and is a more chemically benign
process.
