pete,
This question comes up fairly often. I've been with Aracnet (now
SpiritOne) for 11 years and have nothing but praise for them and their tech
support staff -- who know linux -- and their SysAdmin.
DSLonly is also frequently praised, and so are several others whose names
I don't recall. Several list members are closely affiliated with some of
these and you'll surely get a sales pitch from them. :-)
I've downloaded National Hydrologic Data files for GIS use and they run
200-350M each. Also, 10M DEM files which are also multi-megabyte. While
these download I do something else on a different virtual desktop, go make
coffee, or have a meal. But, that's because I buy a comparatively slow
connection. I don't stream videos or music so I don't need a faster
connection (but it would be nice on those rare occasions when I am
downloading a couple of gigabytes of spatial data).
