I think it depends on the field. For example, if it's anything medical
related, HIPPA regulations would apply.

If the confidentiality is in any field where privacy is regulated by the
feds, I'd look for appropriate legal help on the question.

aka, what are your SIL's responsibilities if there is a security breach
somewhere in the stream. I don't know if she could blame Amazon (and
hold them legally responsible) if there's a breach in the Amazon cloud.
