Entirely off topic - it is 330pm Saturday and the temperature is
90F outside and in the garage. Inside the house, it is 75F on
the second floor and 70F on the first floor. The house was built
in 1960, with little insulation, and was hot last summer. Last
winter, I put 24 inches of fiberglass insulation in the attic,
and an attic fan. The thermometer above the insulation and
below the roof is pegged at 130F - it feels like a sauna up there.

We haven't turned on the air conditioner yet this year.

When we get more money, we will put blow-in insulation in the
otherwise uninsulated outside walls. Then we can heat the place
in winter with our laptops. For now, we are keeping the sun off
the west wall with bean trellises.
