Bill Gates passed the CEO baton to Steve Balmer, and is not
actively running the company these days.  He spends a lot
of time at Nathan Myhrvold's "Intellectual Ventures", about
two days a week.  So even Bill Gates got burned out by M$;
hopefully he can do more for the world in his new jobs.
