I case it's not readily apparent, I have been trolling somewhat in this thread.

To set the record straight... 

Compulsory voting is an intriguing idea. It seems to be working in Australia, and from what I can see, the government in Australia appears to be much more centered than our own. My own perception of our government is that the D & R camp are not that far apart politically. Ideologically they are somewhat apart, but neither party wishes to actually cut spending or taxes. They mainly differ in where they want to spend money.

As Keith said, I too self-identify as Libertarian. Mostly for the same reasons.

I would argue that we've already built the inescapable water system. As someone earlier said, bottled water here is mostly for those who immigrated here from places that aren't blessed with our clean water. However, that might change if the powers that be choose to add something to the water supply that people do not want to drink. So, there IS a way to escape that water system. It's just a lot more expensive, and inconvenient when compared to a faucet.
