Interesting read.

ALEC does not normally promote their bills in states where citizens
have direct referendum rights (most states do not). Kansas is a state
where there is no direct citizen-initiated referendum. If the
legislature passes it and the governor signs it into law the citizens'
only recourse is to remove the [expletives] from office. Here in Oregon
we can just gather enough signatures to put it on the ballot and
repeal/modify the law directly. 

I note that Google has joined the forces opposing the bill. I was
unable to find any rundown on the likelihood that the bill will pass,
although there seems to be a massive letter/e-mail writing campaign
underway, as well as a lot of press coverage in opposition.
