[PLUG-TALK] Czech ladder racing (with snarky political comment)

The way I understand it, according to BBC News, Czechia is UN
registered alias to Czech Republic.
I believe, that he reason for shortening the name maybe that Czechs
felt not recognized enough with the two word country name. Now the
Czechs are in the same league with France, Germany, Canada, Mexico ...
Libya and others. I am not sure what kind of mess this double name
aliasing and ambiguity will create. Maybe, it is an attempt to confuse
cartographers, so that the next time some decides to invade the
country, they get it wrong and take over some other place.
By the way, Czechia was invaded by Prussians in 1740, Germans in 1938,
Russians "forgot" to leave in 1945 and later reoccupied the country in
1968. Not so for Austrians who inherited Czechia as closest relatives
in 1526 when the king died without male heir. It is all the same in
that part of the Europe, borders meant nothing (except for taxes) until
after the 1st World War.
In a way, the name change maybe a good way to generate international
attention - compared to alternatives currently going on around the
world.
That is my version anyway....
