   Innumerate graduates of high schools have existed for a long time. It's
one of the reasons cash registers display the amount of change due the
customer. Some clerks still have difficulty with the money.

   I had another experiece of an innumerate sales clerk this past week. He
called a supervisor over rather than take my word on what to do. Sigh.
