[PLUG-TALK] OT - painting and kludging microwave ovens

My 30 year old Sharp Carousel microwave oven is losing
patches of paint on the inside; a special paint is
available to fix that. It is otherwise doing fine.

As long as I am stinking up the garage with sanding and
paint fumes, and making a mess of my overalls, does
anyone else want to come out to Beaverton and paint
their microwave oven innards as well?

BTW, I've reseated connectors over the years, and
replaced the interior incandescent lamp with an LED lamp
(brighter but cooler), so there are other fixups we can
do while we have an oven opened up. Unless the magnetron
burns out, I expect this old beast to outlast me, and
outlast the plastic and tinfoil crap they sell now.

If we are really ambitious, we can add a photosensor and
relay to duplicate a trick my clever friend Neldon Wagner
(RIP) did to his microwave. Neldon added a position switch
on the turntable so that the motor briefly kept rotating
after the end of the microwave cycle, then stopped with the
turntable turned to the same angle it started with. That
way, whatever is cooking always ends up "handles out".

I love voiding warranties, especially expired ones.

Contact me via the email above and we'll decide details.

Keith
