My father -- who worked at North American Rockwell's plant in Downey,
CA and who was a weights engineer on the Apollo project -- took the
incredible step of buying us a new color TV (he was a notorious
cheapskate) and getting us up before sunrise to watch the landing on
the moon.

If he'd been wearing buttons, they would've burst.

Several months later, our entire family headed up to Downey and spent
a very hot morning in the parking lot waiting in line so we could walk
through the lunar module. (Read: two-plus hours of waiting for about
30 seconds for the look-see.)
