[PLUG-TALK] August 21 total solar eclipse

August 21 is a total solar eclipse of the Sun, the first
in Oregon since 1979. There will not be another here for
more than a century. The path of totality passes just
north of Salem, and Ontario in Eastern Oregon.

In 1979, I camped near Redmond to see the last one. A
mountain wave cloud formed out of a clear sky as totality
approached, and I saw little of it.

This time, I plan to be wherever clouds are least likely
to form, and hope to be with friends with vehicles so we
can move out from under clouds if they form. Perhaps
around Ontario, or eastern Idaho. I hope we can arrange
for More Data about upper atmosphere conditions (realtime
satellite downlink?) so we can avoid cloud formation.

Not sure who will be among the friends, but eclipse fanatics
on this list probably qualify. Contact me off the list.

Keith
