She also wasn't Secretary of State in 1990, though she had been until
after the 1984 election when her term expired. In 1990, she had been out
of that office for nearly 6 years.  She did run for the Republican
nomination to US Senate in 1990 (to replace Packwood, Gordon Smith
eventually lost to Ron Wyden that year), but she had no administrative
influence over poll workers in Hood River or any other county at that
time.
