Moving this to the present day, Republicans are adamantly opposed to
vote by mail. The reason is that vote by mail increases the number of
ballots cast and, in the majority of jurisdictions, that means that a
higher number of democrats will vote. Unfortunately, the only argument
opposed to vote by mail that they have come up with is that it will
increase fraud, which is false if proper methods are used.
