I kind of feel that it is appropriate to talk about this new WD hard
drive politics a.k.a. alternative HDD facts - "5400 RPM class hard
drive".

More here: and elsewhere:
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2020/09/western-digital-is-trying-to-re
define-the-word-rpm/

This is only about two months after the old WD controversy selling
unsuitable SMR disks into RAID market where people loose data while
hiding the actual HDD specs.

I am seriously getting fed-up with general truth and terminology
distortion epidemics going on right now, unopposed. It is alarming that
FTC does not act and lets this and other stuff such as fake on-line
shopping reviews, privacy shenanigans, not disclosing medical costs
before the care consumption, .... spread into the whole economy.

Anyway, -nough said about general outrage and lies.

If you care what hard drive you actually get - you will probably need
to do serious testing and measurements while you can still return it.
Because - you know - if SMR/CMR or 5400/7200 RPM does not matter to the
manufacturer - they will like not honor it as warranty return
justification.
