[PLUG-TALK] boots!

As the subject of boots came up on the general mailing list, it got me
to thinking about footwear and the use of laces versus no laces. I am
here to declare that I have footwear of both types. The laced versions
have the annoying habit of strings wearing out in various ways. Most
recently, I discovered that the plastic sleave aglets[1] had cracked and
fallen off of my primary laced shoes allowing the woven shoelace to
begin fraying, and with a groan was contemplating replacing them. I
examined the problem and realized that heatshrink tubing might provide a
solution. I tried it and, omg, it worked! The shoelaces don't need to be
replaced. I am going to install the heatshrink on the second shoe now.
