[PLUG-TALK] New phone is a PITA

My old phone is a Note 3, now seven years old. It still works, but the
connector is temperamental and the screen is cracked, so I bought a new
Samsung Note 20 Ultra.

My Note 3 was rooted, so I deleted a lot of the garbage. But my new
Note 20 is not rooted, and I understand that doing so can be
problematic. So far I'm putting up with a lot of junk that I don't
like, because I can't remove a lot of it. Yesterday, for some reason
that I don't understand, suddenly it started downloading, lasting 15
minutes, and new icons started appearing on the screen - for Spotify,
Linkedin, and numerous other social things.

You know, I could buy a new computer with Windows on it, and within an
hour after getting it home Windows would be history and I'd be looking
at a nice Linux desktop. My new Note has 12GB of RAM and 128GB storage,
so Linux should fit nicely. But I can't wipe out the Google/Samsung OS
and install something better. Grr.
