So my newbie question is this:

How do you do a screen capture -- you know, make a picture of whatever is on the
screen like one could do in windoze with alt-printscrn (then paste clipboard
into something expecting .bmp)?
 - from KDE ?
 - from GNOME (& which window manager?) ?
