It appears as though you're looking for some way to take a screenshot of
one window.  If you're running GNOME2, then Alt-PrtScreen will work
(under any WM), otherwise the most desktop environment agnostic way of
doing it is with xwd:
$ xwd -out <filename.xwd>

And then convert it to something useful.
