On startup time they're about on par with each other.

In everything else, Galeon is faster. Things like java applets start up
about twice as fast in Galeon. It also seems less 'heavy'. But, there
are still a few things Galeon doesn't do. It doesn't seem to work with
all javascript I've run in to, so for some sites I fire up Moz. As far
as just speed is concerned, though, Galeon seems to beat out Mozilla
hands-down.

I don't know if my speeding up Moz would have sped up Galeon, because I
didn't ever even use Galeon until after I had Mozilla optimized. I
really don't like gnome, and as such have only learned of gnome-type
applications through chance encounters. I prefer them over the KDE sets
only because they're sooooo much faster loading up. KDE apps all seem
to start up half of KDE with them. Might as well just load up Win4Lin!
