[PLUG] Vanishing .bash_history

I was wondering what a reason might be that one's .bash_history file would get clear out.  Earlier today I logged into my box and my history was present.  Then I logged on later this evening and all of the sudden my .bash_history has a size of 0 and it is empty.  I didn't clear it.  I wasn't tweaking anything on my box. So I don't quite have a clue as to why it got cleared.  Any ideas?
