That works, except with versions prior to Solaris 7. Solaris 2.6 (the
immediate predecessor to Solaris 7.0) reports as SunOS 5.6. There was never
a version 3, 4, 5 or 6 of Solaris.

The "5" in SunOS 5.8 means it's SunOS version 5.
