[PLUG] HP OfficeJet 600 & samba

Hopefully, some folks have more experience with all-in-one devices than I.
Apparently this particular printer/fax machine needs to be configured using
Windows tools. Namely, telling it to route incoming calls based on
distinctive ring.

Printing over the net works fine, haven't tried scanning/faxing yet.
Question is: How much functionality is part of the Linux driver vs. just
letting a Windows client with the right software fully exploit the features
of the device?

Example: the Linux driver (being developed by HP, yea them) doesn't yet
support pc faxing. But should one expect pc faxing to work if using a
windows client on the net? How would samba know where to spool an incoming fax?

Currently using lpd, but would CUPS offer more functionality in this regard?

Thanks,
Kyle Accardi
